When confronting a large set of waves in low breeze, the sails should be deep along the boom and the foot of the jib and the leeches of the main and jib should be twisted off to prevent stallingĀ as the top of the rig pitches aft. This is accomplished by easing the outhaul and main sheet, moving the leads forward (if possible) and easing the jib sheet. Shifting gears is fast!
